This past weekend was so much fun! It was my first planner conference and it was the most amazing experience to be around so many like-minded women. It was cold in Chicago this weekend, but not insanely cold and I honestly didn't spend too much time outside. I got into town Friday afternoon and checked into the hotel. My friend and I went to dinner and met up with some fellow planner babes at The Sugar Factory. They have very delicious and boozie drinks, but they are very expensive ($47 including gratuity for one drink expensive lol.)
The speakers on Saturday were Stephanie Fleming from The Happy Planner and Amber Kemp-Gerstel from Damasklove. Both were super fun and uplifting. Stephanie spoke about toxic positivity and how it's okay to feel your feelings and not be happy all the time, but how it's important to change your perspective also. Most days can go from bad to good depending on your perspective. Amber spoke about because of the leap day we get every four years, we basically have an extra 60 seconds per day. She went on to say you can introduce yourself, you can say yes and you can ask for help all in those extra 60 seconds. She said doing those three things have led her to so much success and opportunities in her career. Later in the day, I got to meet Quita from At Home with Quita and she is the sweetest person ever. Her work shop was super fun. Also went to the Plum Paper workshop where the owner showed us all about their planners and how to find the one that fits you best. Saturday night, we ate at the most amazing soul food restaurant called Soul Chicago. Some of the best fried chicken, fried green tomatoes and peach cobbler ever! The karaoke dance party was Saturday night as well and it was a ton of fun.
There were a couple more speakers Sunday morning, but I missed them due to my flight. All in all, it was so much fun and so cool. I cannot wait to go again next year!
